February Prayer Letter

KEEP PRAYING!

What Rick and Toni Flanders are doing in February 2014

It wasn’t long ago that I sent out our report on the Kenya Mission, and that was the last update I have given to friends who pray for us.  Now I am sending a short message to encourage everyone to keep praying for us as we work to promote revival among God’s people the rest of this month.  Here are a few items to keep in mind as you pray:

  • ·         We got home on February 5 (about a week ago) after an absolutely wonderful mission of ministry to the country of Kenya in east Africa.  If you would like a copy of my report on the trip, just write me at drrickflanders@gmail.com.  Some blessings I have not mentioned have to do with Bethel Baptist Church in Komarock.  I was told that after I preached there on a particular Sunday morning, one of the members led an unsaved attendee to Christ.  This is the church around which those of us with the College went soul winning the final week I was there.  You will remember all the fruit we saw borne.  Anyway, reports have come that the church continues to see souls saved and new folks visiting, and has been affected powerfully from the revival work that was done.  Praise the Lord for His work there!  And let’s keep praying for Pastor Josiah Wambua and his congregation, as well as the missionaries we know around Nairobi.
  • ·         This week (February 8-14) I am with Pastor Joe Risinger at the Lighthouse Baptist Church of South Bend, Indiana, for a revival campaign that God has given a great start!  Monday Pastor and I were able to help a married couple who had attended the church on Sunday to trust Christ for their salvation.  Then they came that night to profess their faith publicly in the revival service.  The people of God were rejoicing as we left the church, for more than one reason I think.  God has done some remarkable things in this congregation the last year or two, and He is clearly leading them more and more into New Testament Christianity.  It is amazing what the Lord has done in the Pastor’s own life and in His family.  And we are having powerful revival meetings here, blessed by the Lord’s presence and power.  Toni is home wrapping up several important things, and will come down later in the week.  Then we drive to Missouri on Saturday.
  • ·         Saturday we go to Greenfield, Missouri, for a revival campaign at the First Baptist Church, February 16-20.  My friend Brian Bach is their pastor.  Then we go to Branson for a big couples’ retreat at the Hilton Branson Convention Center the twenty-first and twenty-second.  More than 800 people are signed up to come, and you can get in on this amazing annual event by calling the United Baptist Church of Springfield at 417-869-1336On February 23, I will be preaching there, where my friend Steve Brudnak, who puts together the retreat, is the pastor.
  • ·         On February 24, Toni and I will drive up to Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, for the great Victory Conference at Falls Baptist Church (February 24-27).  This year it is called “the Revival Road conference,” and among the other speakers will be my pastor, Dr. R.B. Ouellette, and my friend, Dr. Jim Schettler.  You ought to see about going to this significant meeting as well.

So keep on praying for us, and for revival!  –Rick and Toni Flanders (Acts 1:8)
